Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)
As we come to the end of Term 2, I would like, on behalf of the whole School and the Governing Bodies, to take this opportunity to thank all Parents(s)/Guardian(s) for their continued support during the term. As we cautiously came out of Covid-19 restrictions, we were able to relaunch ECA clubs, resume swimming lessons and prepare our students for the Inter-House Athletics competition. I hope you will join me in thanking all teachers and support staff for their hard work in this regard. Next term, we will continue to put an emphasis on ECA activities as well as ensuring excellent quality of teaching and learning in the School.
During term 2, we saw the completion of the new S1 block at Ile Du Port (IDP) campus and subsequently the move of all S1 students from Union Vale (UV) to their new classes at IDP. With the lifting of Covid-19 measures, our students have been participating in more sports activities, including the football club whose team continues to progress in the National School’s premier league; a newly created and increasingly popular Cricket club which won its last match against ISS as well as students taking part in rugby outside of school. We will continue to support these initiatives and others as part of ECA next term.
For logistical and other reasons beyond our control, we were unable to take part in the National Athletics Competition this year. Notwithstanding this, we remain committed to Athletics and ensuring that our students are given the opportunity to develop themselves physically. Therefore, we have decided to hold our Inter-House Athletics Competition at the end of this term on Friday 5th August 2022 at ‘Stad Linite’. The event will start at 7.45 am and all Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are invited to come and support their children. Further details of the event will be provided by the PE/ECA department.
Furthermore, we had also planned to launch our new school website in term 2. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, this will now be taking place at the beginning of term 3. We are also anticipating rolling out the EdAdmin Parent portal around the same time. Further details about this will be provided in due course. External examinations will also be taking place in term 3, so students are encouraged to take time during the holidays to review their work. In term 3, the School will also be drafting a new ‘Drugs and Substances’ policy. Parents will be invited to provide their observations and contributions on the draft to ensure that that this policy is embraced by the whole School Community.
I would like to remind Parent(s)/Guardian(s) that the term 3 invoice is now issued and I hope it will be settled before the start of term 3. You are advised to contact our Finance department if you have any concerns. Finally, I would also like take this opportunity to wish you and all our students a happy and restful holiday and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for the new term on the 5th September 2022. Please see the 2021 Principal’s Report for your information.
Yours sincerely
Andy Esparon (Mr.)
