Independent School Seychelles organised its first Athletics meet after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19. As was expected, the children were bursting with energy and excitement even before the whistle blew to announce the start of the day.
The athletes were dressed in the colour of their ‘houses’, which represents the names of three planets – Mars was represented by the colour red, Neptune green and Venus yellow.
Mr. Pravin de Souza, the ECA Coordinator says that the students were pleased with the idea of an
inter-house athletics meet mixed with an entertaining, fun day. “This is an event that we do every year, but due to the COVID pandemic, it restricted us from doing so. We are also preparing our students for the schools’ National Athletics Championship next year as we did not participate this year. This day also serves to encourage our students to live a healthy lifestyle and taking part in sports is a way to get them engaged in staying fit and healthy.”
The day was organised under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. Red cross and the school nurses were also on-site in case of any eventualities.
